And how helpless it feels when you can't.

Here's what I've learned: Our job isn't to fix grief. It's to acknowledge it. To step up and companion another person as they navigate through loss.

I started The Comfort Company in 2002 after I tried to find a meaningful sympathy gift and came up empty-handed. More than 150,000 gifts later — including these handcrafted lamps — we're still doing that same important work.
